The toddler group, ranging from 19 to 36 months, represents a significant and busy age group at Authentic Childcare Center.
In this room, children are beginning to develop their motor skills and gaining confidence in their movements. They engage in activities such as running, jumping, climbing, and exploring their surroundings with a curious mindset. Our dedicated Authentic Childcare Center staff members possess extensive knowledge in professional child care and are committed to providing comprehensive care consistently. Children in this age group are filled with energy and have an insatiable curiosity to explore and discover. They learn about the world through hands-on experimentation and testing.
Physical Needs in Toddlers
The stage commonly referred to as the “terrible twos” can be challenging for parents and staff alike. Toddlers at this age are full of energy and strong emotions. Our team, who will be working with this age group, will be both physically and emotionally prepared for the task. They will approach the children with professionalism and a deep appreciation for their natural curiosity, excitement, and joy in discovering new things.
The Authentic Childcare Center offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities that are specifically designed for toddlers. These activities cater to their developmental needs, providing them with opportunities to explore, play, and experiment in a safe and age-appropriate environment.
Cognitive Needs and Brain Development of Toddlers
During the toddler stage, numerous brain cell connections are formed, including the development of the part of the brain responsible for emotional and cognitive growth. At Authentic Childcare Center, our educators diligently monitor the cognitive development progress of each child and document it using assessment tools. We also evaluate their language abilities, emotional growth, and social skills. When working with groups of toddlers, our childcare educators employ serve-and-return interaction skills to encourage healthy interactions among the children.
At our facility, we offer full-time, part-time, and drop-off care for all age groups. Our services are available 12 hours, from 6 am to 6 pm.
Learning Communication in Toddlers
Young children, especially toddlers, possess a remarkable ability to rapidly acquire new vocabulary as if experiencing a language eruption. At Authentic Childcare Center, our educators hold a significant responsibility in promoting language and communication development among toddlers.
Engaging in conversations with children is essential in helping them understand and use new vocabulary in short sentences and dialogues.
We employ effective techniques tailored to each age group at our facility. These techniques include expanding on the child’s statements and accurately repeating their words, pausing before asking questions to encourage participation, sustaining the conversation by asking questions, actively participating in playtime with the child, and engaging in shared activities such as reading books and singing songs. Through these techniques, we are confident that children will improve their language skills and thrive in a positive learning environment.
Learning About and Regulating Emotion
Our Authentic Childcare Center educators are committed to providing professional care that effectively assists children in controlling and managing their emotions. They create a welcoming and accepting environment by displaying patience and understanding towards a toddler’s emotions, refraining from mocking or laughing at them when they become upset. Furthermore, they establish clear boundaries on behaviors that could harm themselves or others, acknowledging the child’s emotions and providing a clear explanation of the reasoning behind these limits.
